Learning to Speak Soul Language
This diagram is a visual of the path to soul. The seeker travels from EGO to the COLLECTIVE UNCONSCIOUS or FIELD OF INFORMATION where ONENESS is found.
The soul is often described as the invisible part of a person that holds their true essence and is beyond body and mind. Many believe that soul is intuition which has been described as irrational knowing. For me soul is the energy that leaves the body when a person dies. The soul is invisible but felt as a loving feeling and known by symbols.
Symbols speak directly to collective unconscious and bypass words. E.G
· Traffic lights and road signs
· The sign for gender and toilet
· The cross for Christians
· The crescent moon and star for Muslims
· A circle such a ring speaks of commitment
· The lotus flower speaks of purity and spiritual awakening
· A red rose speaks of love
· The dove speaks of peace
When a symbol ‘speaks’ it is not the mind interpreting it. Insight comes from the collective unconscious or field of all knowing. Symbols and archetypes are deeply intertwined. This is a reason for discovering the twelve personal archetypes described by spiritual director Carolyn Myss. The path to soul is an inward journey when the mind is quietened in practices like meditation or colouring a mandala. With a quiet mind, intuition, symbols and archetypes give meaning. This is soul speak!
An archetype like the ‘Hero’ or the ‘Mother’ is known instinctively. Archetypes are higher dimensional patterns that are universally recognised. Caroline Myss writes that all people have four archetypes in common. We all have:
· A child (e.g. wounded, orphan, gifted) Expression: Innocence, play, vulnerability, new beginnings
· A victim - Expression: Helplessness, sacrifice, suffering, martyrdom
· A saboteur - Expression: Self-destruction, resistance, shadow, inner critic
· A prostitute - Expression: Exchange, value, seduction, selling one's soul or gifts

The soul is often described as the invisible, eternal part of a person that holds their true essence and is connected to something far greater. ‘Know thyself’ were words written on the Greek temple of Apollo in Delphi. Socrates the Greek philosopher wrote that the unexamined life is not worth living.
